De Praatclub

In this free Praatclub, changing personal themes will be discussed that you want to talk about but don't want to burden the other person with. Not everyone is waiting to be confronted . We all have certain feelings and thoughts and yet it is often taboo to put them on the table. Let's break that and make the human subject discussable. The small talk can go out into the pasture.

Intense discussions and polarization have no place in the Talking Club, but there is plenty of room for a dialogue based on respect, in a non-political setting. A safe place with room to be open and honest, where people appreciate a different opinion and perhaps learn something from it. Holding up a mirror to each other is not seen as an attack but as a gift. So leave your ego at home, but if it does come along, that's okay because we all know it.

We discuss topics such as:
Loneliness
Dealing with boundaries
Mourning

Self love
(Un)wanted single

Insecurity
Discrimination
Single parenthood
Relationships that hurt
Addiction
Burn-out

Abuses in the workplace
Rejection

and many more.

With De Praatclub, which I have been organizing since 2019, I want to voice a counter-voice to the social norm in which vulnerability has no place and is seen as weakness. I want to remove the taboo of open conversation and thus contribute to a healthier society. Namely, suppressing feelings ultimately makes you sick.

The moderator ensures that everything runs smoothly, that everyone has a chance to speak and that sometimes he or she asks questions that provide food for thought.

There is a Talking Club every first Sunday of the month in the centre of The Hague. See the events on this website for themes and info.

Admission is free.
